How you respond to winning or losing, how you respond to getting what you want or not, tells us a lot about how content and at peace you are with yourself – how truly secure you are purely because you exist as YOU.
On the heels of people getting or not getting what they want in the POTUS, my heart hurts for those who believe their continued public laments which often involve tears, rants and raves, and epithets directed at those who cast a vote other than their own/at those who think differently, somehow, these public displays of emotionalism, project to the world that they are “enlightened” or more “righteous”. All those who complain and spew negativity, including expressions of a loss of hope as well as those who make statements akin to the God-ordained appearance of the Second Coming, believe they are actually “correct” and “justified” in their opinions.
Negativity, judgmentalism, rationalization, and justification is draining and for the many who engage in such, they see themselves as the arbiters of critical thought, enlightenment, social justice, and whatever it is that makes them believe they are actually helping rather than what they are actually showing the world and that is that they have used the public airwaves as a platform for their less than joy-filled existence.
If you suffer from belly fat, it is your stress-filled thinking, your focus on the negative, that keeps you pudgy.
While that may seem like a non-sequitur and while this article is not about negative-thought-created-belly-fat, it is about our ability to transform ourselves by taking our thoughts captive (Rom 12:2) so we can focus on all that is noble, pure, and admirable….and in the process you will be able to exercise out of yourself all that which is NOT noble, pure, and admirable within yourself (your “fat”) so that YOU experience greater joy regardless of your present circumstances!
Neuroscience abounds in research that proves we can rewire our brain. If it is possible to physically alter our thought center, then we ARE in control of how we think, how we perceive ourselves, how we experience life and, thus, the world and others around us. Everyone is given the same number of hours in a day (“manna”) and yet how is it that some experience joy and peace regardless of their circumstances and others only see misery and despair? How is it that some taste the sweet honey within their daily provision and have hope for many more days of joy, while others taste only the bitterness of this daily bread and cannot see beyond the brokenness of this temporal existence?
