While one can perform many roles at a high level, the constant pressure to excel in so many divergent areas has far too many of us “failing” to do well for ourselves. What does it mean to succeed? How do we measure it?

In 1920 the 19^thAmendment gave women the right to vote which established the Truth that women are, in fact, equal citizens. The 1960s and 70s saw even more political action as women sought formal protection of their inalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. In 2017 the #MeToo movement goes viral in an attempt to demonstrate the widespread prevalence of sexual assault and harassment, especially in the workplace. Hold on! Didn’t the passage of these laws give women the equal access and protections they had fought so many years to achieve?….Are we moving backwards?!

Kasandra will present the facts of our past, reflect upon our present, and offer insights of hope for our future. While the fight is not over, the legacy of female power and strength and resilience lives on in the women of today who stand on the shoulders of the women before us. Take heart, there is hope!
